The Challenge
Africa faces numerous challenges that require collective action - from healthcare access to education gaps and infrastructure needs. While people want to help, they often lack visibility into project impact and struggle to stay motivated in their giving journey.
Traditional donation platforms are transactional rather than engaging. Donors give once and forget, missing opportunities to build sustainable giving habits and see the real impact of their contributions.
As a software engineer, I wanted to use my skills to give back meaningfully while creating a platform that would inspire others to do the same through technology-driven social impact.
The Solution
Built MendAfrica to gamify giving through personal impact tracking, goal setting, and progress monitoring. Users can set goals to impact specific numbers of lives and track their journey throughout the year.
The platform features curated project approval, real-time progress updates, and celebration emails that make giving feel rewarding and personal. Visual dashboards show giving patterns and achievements.
With 1,000+ lives impacted and ₦6M+ donated across 4 Lagos outreaches, MendAfrica proves that technology can make philanthropy more engaging while driving measurable social change.
